Where In the World is Dr. Gerson? This Month - Belize

Dr. Jeffry Gerson travels all over the world to share his expertise in the field of optometry. Recently, Dr. Gerson was in Belize to teach continuing education classes to other optometrists. The doctors in attendance spent 20 hours over the course of a week learning about a wide variety of eye care topics. Dr. Gerson's wife was able to join him on the trip and some R&R was also on the agenda.

Snowblindness - Is It Real?

Is there really such a thing as "snow blindness"? Yes there is! Snow reflects quite a bit more ultraviolet (UV) light than water or sand.  When there is snow on the ground, up to 80% of UV light is reflected up, whereas only 25% is reflected up from water.

Marijuana Myths - is Marijuana a Good Treatment for Glaucoma?

Many people ask whether marijuana could help their glaucoma by lowering their eye pressure.  Medical marijuana is not legal in Kansas or Missouri, but even if it were, it would not be a good treatment for glaucoma.  Although it would lower eye pressure, the effect is only temporary and lasts only 3-4 hours.
