Many people ask whether marijuana could help their glaucoma by lowering their eye pressure. Medical marijuana is not legal in Kansas or Missouri, but even if it were, it would not be a good treatment for glaucoma.  Although it would lower eye pressure, the effect is only temporary and lasts only 3-4 hours. Patients with glaucoma require around the clock control of their eye pressure. Further, the potential side effects outweigh the benefit.
